1. Who we are

Quoteora is a UK home-improvement lead-matching service operated by Quoteora, Bentalls House, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1LP (“Quoteora”, “we”, “us” or “our”). For data-protection purposes, Quoteora is the controller of personal information collected through this website.

Contact: hello@quoteora.co.uk.

In short: homeowners give us project and contact details so we can assess their request and share it with a small number of suitable independent contractors. Contractors give us business information so we can review their application and offer relevant opportunities.

2. Information we collect

We may collect your name, telephone number, email address, postcode, town, property-ownership status, project type, budget, preferred timing, project description, photographs or other information you choose to provide, together with records of consent and our communications with you.

We may collect your business and trading name, contact details, business type, company number, trading history, team size, trades, service areas, travel radius, typical job value, availability, insurance information, website, review and portfolio links, application notes, lead-purchase and payment records, and the results of reasonable public checks.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, those interests include operating and improving Quoteora, protecting users, checking quality signals, preventing fraud and keeping appropriate business records. We balance those interests against your rights.

4. Who we share information with

An accepted homeowner enquiry may be shared with up to three suitable independent contractors covering the relevant trade and area so they can contact the homeowner about providing a quotation. Those contractors become responsible for their own use of the information they receive and should provide their own privacy information.

We may also use service providers supporting website hosting, form delivery, email, spreadsheets, administration, analytics where enabled, security, professional advice and payment processing. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights, or in connection with a business sale or restructuring.

We do not sell homeowner contact details as a general mailing list. We provide limited project opportunities to selected contractors under the Quoteora service.

5. International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use providers and safeguards intended to protect personal information in accordance with UK data-protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards.

6. How long we retain information

We may anonymise information so it can no longer identify an individual and use that anonymised information for statistical purposes.

7. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information; restrict or object to processing; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.

To exercise a right, email hello@quoteora.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

8. Security and children

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Quoteora is intended for adults arranging work for a property or applying as a contractor and is not directed at children.

9. Contractors and finance

Some independent contractors may state that they offer payment or finance options through third parties. Quoteora does not provide financial advice, make lending decisions or guarantee finance. We will not use a homeowner’s information to make a finance introduction unless the appropriate consent, disclosures and regulatory arrangements are in place.

10. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the service or law. The latest version will be published here with its updated date.

Website analytics

Quoteora uses Google Analytics only when a visitor accepts optional analytics cookies. This helps us understand website use and which pages generate enquiries. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, telephone numbers, postal addresses or enquiry message text to Google Analytics. Visitors can withdraw consent using the “Cookie settings” button.

Enquiry source information

When you send an enquiry, Quoteora may record the page used, referring website and campaign information supplied in the link (for example a Google Ads campaign identifier). We use this information to operate the enquiry service, understand which pages and marketing produce enquiries, prevent duplicate processing and improve Quoteora. This source information is stored with the enquiry record.

Optional analytics storage is used only after you select “Accept analytics”. If you do not accept, Quoteora may still attach the current enquiry page and source shown in the link to an enquiry you choose to submit. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes and enquiry descriptions are not sent to Google Analytics.
